Video Club Teams with VCF for ‘Fund the Film’ Campaign

To continue an ambitious filmmaking tradition begun in 2018, the Video Club is partnering with the Village Community Fund on a “Fund the Film” campaign, launched by President Steve Carman at the July 27 General Meeting. Steve explained that the club is seeking $500 to $1000 in tax-deductible donations to help meet the rising costs of producing its Short Dramatic Films series, which he describes as “a unique learning opportunity rarely available to seniors.”

The donation form, including details about the campaign, may be downloaded below. Donations may also be made online at the Village Community Fund website, http://villagecommunityfund.org.

Four previous films in the series (14-24-minutes long) are available on the Video Club’s YouTube channel. All the films feature Village actors performing original scripts by Village writers. The films are “Write It Down” (2019), “What? You, Too?” (2021), “The Hole in One” (2022), and “Bowling Ball Debacle” (2023).

The club’s fifth Short Dramatic Film, “Seeking Online Adventures,” was shot during July by a production crew including many new resident volunteers. Plans call for a fall premiere after editing and musical scoring. The film is a comedy about senior online dating, starring Mary Zolly, who wrote the script, and directed by John Kelly, both Village residents.

The Village Community Fund, a non-profit 501(c)(3) community benefit charitable organization, has partnered successfully on campaigns with Village clubs, including the Pickleball Club’s “Light the Night,” raising funds for court lighting, and the Equestrian Center’s “Help the Herd,” providing comforts for the horses.
