Camcorder Loans

Free Consumer Equipment Loans

Camcorder Loan Items-no mic

Although our members do many shoots in and for the community, we also focus on helping residents learn to create videos themselves.

Residents and clubs wanting to record their events, interviews, or other subjects are invited to take advantage of our free Consumer Equipment Loan Program. We lend consumer-level, high-definition camcorders and fluid-head video tripods to both members and non-member residents without charge. Basic operational instructions are provided for these short-term loans, and a refundable deposit covering the cost of the equipment is required.

Consumer equipment loans are made and checked in at the Video Lab ONLY on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 1-4 pm (or by special arrangement). Loans are for one week. Longer loans may be made by special arrangement. Two Lab Supervisors are responsible for all loans — Betsy Martin (Wednesdays), bmartin125@comline.com, 707-540-1955, and Lucy Parker (Thursdays), lvparker@gmail.com, 949-456-4657. Contact either of them for additional information. An April, 2018, blog post on this website explains the loan system in more detail.

Video editing services are not included, but we invite anyone borrowing equipment to take take the next step into video creation by enrolling in one of our video editing classes. We also offer classes on shooting, editing, and sharing videos using smartphones.

It’s never been easier to “get into video” than it is today!

Borrow a camcorder and find out! To learn more, visit the Video Lab, open Tuesday-Friday from 1-4 p.m., 949-470-0965.

Still need help?

Residents and clubs seeking video services from our Video One Productions team may contact John Kelly, External Video Coordinator, at jaakelly@gmail.com or call him at 949-759-9468, to discuss their needs.

If the Video Club team cannot produce the requested video — and if the residents are unable to make the video themselves through our Equipment Loan Program — we can provide referrals to professional videography resources.
