December TV Shows: “Laguna Woods Stories” Returns, “Beyond the Gates” Celebrates the Season

Just in time for the holidays, “Laguna Woods Stories” returns to Village Television this month with a new episode featuring an insightful and heartwarming interview of Village resident, Mark Greenman, Esq. (at left in photo above), who battled alcoholism for many years. Greenman, best known in the Village for his popular outdoor “concerts” in the creek park during COVID, is interviewed by program producer Dr. Tom Nash in the Video Club-produced show. They discuss Mark’s long journey and struggle with alcohol, his repeated relapses following expensive and lengthy treatment programs, and his victory overcoming it.

A staple of Village Television for the past nine years, “Laguna Woods Stories” airs at noon on Sundays and Wednesdays showcasing stories of interesting village residents, but was on hiatus since spring, playing re-runs during Dr. Nash’s recent illness and recovery.

On the December episode of the Video Club’s travel show, “Beyond the Gates,” popular local holiday events are featured, including Tanaka Farms Festival of Lights in Irvine, Snowland in Costa Mesa, and Chabad Hanukkah lighting.

The show invites viewers to take the grandkids (or just yourself) to Santa’s Village and Workshop at Mission Viejo Center Plaza. Bring a camera to prove you met Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves, while sipping complimentary hot chocolate. “Santa’s Village” is free and open 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through December 19. Produced by Susan Savlov with videography by Jack Crawbuck,“Beyond the Gates” airs Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and on Sundays at 9 a.m.
