A book trailer, a Valentine, and a travel video took top honors when club members present voted for their favorites from 10 entries, each under 4 minutes, in the Annual Short Video Contest February 29 at the 13th Annual Goldie Awards Banquet in the Village Greens 19 Restaurant.
A writer from the Globe newspaper attended the Banquet, and coverage is anticipated in the March 21, 2024 issue.

Contest winners were Nancy Klann-Moren, first place, for “The Clock of Life,” an overview of her Civil-Rights-era novel set in the South; Katharine Holland, second place, for “Cupid’s Curtain Call,” a loving tribute by Village resident CeCe Sloan to her late husband; and Marsha Berman, third place, for “Porto & Douro River Valley,” a scenic waterway tour of Portugal. Voters were asked to consider content, technical quality, and special factors when making their selections.

The event, chaired once again by Marsha Berman with assistance from Joan Carman and Nancy Klann-Moren, drew a capacaty crowd of 70+ guests. Vice President Tom Nash served as Emcee, commending Past-President Steve Carman for his nine years of leadership and summarizing the club’s accomplishments during 2023. New President Jonathan William called for more volunteers as he looked forward to a productive year ahead. Wolfgang Kutter, Head Video Lab Supervisor, introduced other Lab Supervisors in attendance. A video tribute reminded attendees of members who passed during 2023, including Stephanie Brasher, Fred Harshbarger, Norma Benner, and Doug Sainsbury.
