Short Dramatic Film, “Seeking Online Adventures,” to Premiere March 13

Seeking Online Adventures,” the fifth film in the Video Club’s Short Dramatic Film series, will have its Premiere showing Wednesday, March 13 in the Video Lab and Studio. Wine and cheese refreshments and socializing at 6:30 pm, program at 7 pm. Open free to Village residents. The insightful comedy about senior online dating will also air on Village Television during April.

Resident Mary Zolly’s original script for the film was chosen last spring from scripts submitted in the Video Club’s annual Short Dramatic Script Contest. Shooting by the club’s Video One Productions team began in July with Zolly, who has appeared in many Village stage productions, playing the lead. Others in the cast are residents Dawn Vasco, Karen Elliott, and Charlie Huntsman. Dee Dewey made her manor available for the shoot.

John Kelly directed the film with photography by Jack Crawbuck, audio by Joe Selikov assisted by Eric Kuramoto, lighting by Jim Rohrs, and script supervision by Suzanne Savlor. Others in the crew included Jonathan Williams, Crosby Allison, Paul Portch, Fran Conroy, Sybil Moore, Ron Rolnick, Joan Carman, and Alexandra Scott-Kelly. Suzanne Savlov and Jack Crawbuck edited the film. Suzanne Savlov and Lucy Parker are the co-producers.

Earlier productions in the Video Club’s Short Dramatic Film series were “Write It Down” (2019), “What? You, Too?” (2021), “The Hole in One” (2022), and “Bowling Ball Debacle” (2023). All are available on the club’s YouTube channel at Video Club of Laguna Woods/Playlists/Short Dramatic Films. The film was financed by “Fund the Film,” a Video Club campaign conducted through the Village Community Fund.
