Video Club Television Shows on Village TV in March

Daylight saving time allows residents more time for destinations profiled in March on the Video Club’s “Beyond the Gates” show, airing on Village TV Wednesdays at 11 am and Sundays at 9 am. Also in March, the club’s “Eyes on Books” show, airing Mondays and Thursdays at 9:30 am, features mystery writer Naomi Hirahara’s World War II novel about Japanese-American internment and its aftermath.

At “Sammy’s Original” in Lake Forest, owner Samantha “Sammy” Genovese (on right in photo above) tells “Beyond the Gates” co-host Cherri Farah about her venue’s bluegrass music, open mic nights, lively line dancing, karaoke, dinner, daily happy hour, Taco Tuesdays, horse betting (one patron won $1m!), and more.

Next, co-host Bill Hemberger meets Mission Viejo Assistant City Manager Keith Rathy and Alison Tran, Library and Cultural Services Supervisor (shown with Bill Hemberger at tunnel), to discuss “shooting stars” (glowing golf balls) at Oso Creek Golf Course’s “Glow Golf”; the Saturday Night Market, held every third Saturday; and much more. Viewers will see the vibrant multi-color mural, “Tunnel Vibration,” and hear about upcoming free “Shakespeare by the Sea” and Pacific Symphony events!

“Eyes on Books” co-hosts Steve Savlov and Elaine Schnitter join best-selling novelist Naomi Hirahara to journey with the Ito Japanese-American family through her recent novel, “Clark and Division.” Following internment at Manzanar, the government relocates the family to the Clark and Division area of Chicago, while protagonist Aki Ito unravels mysteries surrounding her sister’s untimely death in this fictional, yet historically accurate page-turner. It is a must-read for mystery enthusiasts.

The Video Club’s Video One Productions team produces both shows with Tom Nash, Executive Producer; Suzanne Savlov, Producer; and Jack Crawbuck, Videographer.
