Joe Brown (left), the Video Club’s Short Film Showcase Coordinator, invites residents and their guests to spend an afternoon in the Video Lab on Monday, June 3, from 1 to 3 pm viewing Short Film Showcase #29. The curated selection of short dramas, comedies, documentaries, and animations was chosen to entertain, inspire, and motivate participants to create their own videos. Dr. Tom Nash, the Video Club’s Vice President, will moderate audience discussion following each film. Free popcorn will add to the festive atmosphere.

Held quarterly in June, September, December, and March, the Short Film Showcase series was initiated on April 1, 2019 by the late Stephanie Brasher, veteran Video Club instructor on Apple video products. Diane and Bob Matonti later assumed leadership of the series. Brown stepped in last December.
Originally from Jamaica, Brown retired in 2010 from Mary Kay Cosmetics, where he served as art director. Before that, he ran his own design studio. Joe and his wife, Judy, lived in the Dallas, TX suburb of Coppell for 30 years, moving to the Village full-time in 2019. In addition to his work for the Video Club, Brown plays golf and is involved in the Theatre Guild and the Astronomy Club.
