New Program on ‘Music for Video’ Announced for June 12 General Meeting

NOTICE: Due to a scheduling issue with the speaker originally announced for our Wednesday, June 12 General Meeting, a new program has been planned.

“Music for Your Video Presentation: How to Use It / How to Find It” will be the topic of the Video Club’s General Meeting on Wednesday, June 12 in the Video Lab. Speakers will be Vice President Tom Nash on using music and President Jonathan Williams on finding music. Refreshments and socializing at 6:30 pm, program at 7 pm. Open without charge to all Village residents and their guests.

Tom Nash will introduce some principles about selecting music for your videos. Says Tom: “You generally should not use your favorite music in a video presentation. Why not? Come and find out.” Topics will include:
● Why you should use music in your videos.
● Why you should NOT use your favorite music.
● The difference between foreground and background music, and why it matters.
● The dangers of copyright infringement, and how to avoid it.

Jonathan Williams will share some free and affordable ways to locate or create music you can use. Says Jonathan: “There are an increasing number of either free or low-cost sources of music for videos, and we will demonstrate several of them, including some that use AI.”
Topics will include:
● Free or low-cost music libraries.
● Demonstration of software that generates original music for your presentation.
