Video Club members and friends will enjoy a dress-up opportunity with Academy Awards décor on Thursday, February 27, 2025, when winners of the club’s 2025 Short Video Contest are chosen at the 14th Annual Goldie Awards Banquet, starting at 5 p.m. in the Clubhouse 7 Main Dining Room. The reservation deadline is Friday, February 21.

The buffet dinner will feature Chicken Piccata and Alaska Cod with mixed green salad, steamed vegetables, Jasmine rice, roasted baby potatoes, red and white wine, and New York cheesecake or red velvet cake for dessert. Tickets are are $30 for members and $35 for guests (same as last year!). Door prizes will also be awarded.
The top 10 Short Video Contest entries, pre-selected by the club’s Video Acceptance Committee, will be shown on Clubhouse 7’s large screen, and members present will vote to name the top three winners of the Video Club’s Goldie Awards. The statuettes were named “Goldies” in honor of our club’s benefactor, the Golden Rain Foundation of Laguna Woods Village, and ourselves — the “golden oldies” — by the late Stephanie Brasher, who won a naming contest held by Past-President Steve Carman.
This year, for the first time, club member Fran Conroy (right) is heading the Banquet Committee. A make-up guru well-known in the Village, Fran has done make-up for many of the club’s Short Dramatic Films and is also an active member of the Video One Productions team both behind and in front of the cameras, helping to produce the club’s monthly TV shows “Beyond the Gates” and “Eyes on Books.” For more information about the Goldie Awards Banquet, email Fran at fsconroy@gmail.com.
