Help Create Movies through ‘Fund the Films’

Since 2018, the Video Club’s Short Dramatic Films group has created six dramatic films (13-27 min.) — all based on original scripts by Village residents and club members, chosen through an annual script contest — all featuring (mostly) senior actors and produced by crews of senior filmmakers. This enthusiastic team shares, step-by-step, the excitement and learning opportunities that are part of making dramatic films.

FILM SCENES PROJECT” (FSP)
During late 2025 and 2026, the Video Club will train and recruit cast and crew members for future Short Dramatic Films through the “Film Scenes Project” (FSP), in which the same short scene will be produced by separate teams in different GENRES (such as comedy, horror, noir). See website post for more details. To get involved in this fun activity, send your name, email, and phone number to Gila Zalon, gilazalon@icloud.com.

FUND THE FILMS” CAMPAIGN
The “Fund the Films” campaign is being conducted by the Video Club through the Village Community Fund (VCF) to help cover Short Dramatic Films production costs. Donations are tax-deductible. Your support will make a difference! You can donate directly on the VCF website or by downloading, completing, and mailing the flyer-form below.

HOW IT STARTED
Inspired by club Vice President Dr. Tom Nash (right), who founded Biola University’s Synder School of Cinema and Media Arts, the Video Club undertook its first Short Dramatic Film in 2018. Costs have gone up since then. Help continue this challenging filmmaking tradition with a tax-deductible donation made through the Village Community Fund. Our current goal is to raise $1,000.
