Ever wonder how movies are “really” made? If so, you’ll want to grab a front row seat at the Video Club of Laguna Woods General Meeting on February 18, 2026, in Clubhouse 7. This is your chance to discover what most people living “right next to Hollywood” never get to see.

“Everyone is invited to hear what goes on behind the scenes,” says Video Club President Jonathan Williams.
Special guest Gila Zalon (left) of The Old Pros and the Video Club will take you inside the making of “Twilight Time” (the Video Club’s sixth Short Dramatic Film, which premiered last September) and five brand new short films about to be produced. You will get an insider’s look at scriptwriting, talent, directing, producing, props, editing, and all the creative decisions that turn an idea into a finished film. Opportunities like this rarely leave the studio lot, so don’t miss your chance to peek behind the curtain.
Even better, Gila will explain how “one script” is being transformed into five completely different genres—horror, romance, comedy, and more—each with its own cast, crew, and apprentices. These films are gearing up for production in just a few weeks, and you’ll be among the first to learn how this ambitious collaboration between the Video Club and the “Old Pros” is coming to life.
Whether you dream of making your own movie, want to volunteer or observe on a real set, or simply love a good story, this evening promises to spark your imagination and maybe even ignite a new passion.

Listen as Gila and others explain how one script was transformed into five different genres including horror, romance, and comedy—presented on stage with great success by The Old Pros at their January 28 monthly meeting (left). Same script, using different cast members, crews, and apprentices.
These five scenes are now getting ready to be produced in the Film Scenes Project, a collaborative production between the Video Club and “Old Pros,” designed to recruit and train filmmaking volunteers. Separate crews will plan, film, and edit each scene, giving volunteers a chance to experience scene design, lighting, camera work, audio, editing and other aspects of making movies.
Come early for refreshments at 6:30 p.m. before the meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. Don’t miss out! Events like this don’t come around often. Mark your calendar, bring a friend, and get ready for a night of moviemaking magic.
