VIDEO CLUB ON VILLAGE TELEVISION IN OCTOBER
Discovering Laguna Woods
Club member Cyndee Whitney, who hosts the monthly TV series “Discovering Laguna Woods” (produced by Village Television), welcomes Irvine-based psychotherapist Eileen S. Lenson (right), MSW, ACSW, to her October broadcast, which will air Wednesdays and Sundays at 9:30 am. This show, Cyndee reports, may become the basis for a new Village TV series featuring Lenson, author of the book, Overcoming Adversity: Conquering Life’s Challenges.
During the half-hour interview, says Cyndee, “Eileen speaks about what’s happening to us as older people during the pandemic. She suggests practices to help us tap into our own resilience and find ways not to be isolated. Eileen has a calm, measured voice,” Cyndee states. “She radiates peace.”
According to Cyndee, during her 30 years as a psychotherapist, Lenson has specialized in helping people facing major episodes of life adversity, such as time in prison or a mental hospital. She adds, “Forgiveness is one of the pillars of Eileen’s work.”
Beyond the Gates
Struggling to capture video in the orange light from smoke-clouded skies, camera operator Jack Crawbuck was part of a two-day September shoot in San Clemente (above, below). The coastal city is the topic of October’s 30-minute episode of “Beyond the Gates” (produced by Video One Productions), scheduled to air Wednesdays at 11 am. The series takes viewers to local sites of interest.
Edited by the series’ Producer Suzanne Savlov, with the assistance of Executive Producer Tom Nash, the episode includes scenes on Del Mar Avenue and views of the historic hotel and pier, as well as the beach club and casino, popular with movie stars in the 1930s. A docent from the San Clemente Historical Society tells about city founder Ole Hanson (1874-1940) and his vision of a planned community.
San Juan Capistrano will be the series’ destination in November. The team is looking for volunteers with local travel ideas to serve as segment producers and set up interviews for future shows. Please contact Suzanne Savlov at sedonasue1@gmail.com or 949-859-7035.
