“Shaping Our Vision” – New President Elected at January 19 General Meeting

An enthusiastic crowd answered the call for volunteers and new ideas at the Video Club’s October 19, 2023 General Meeting, held under the slogan “Shaping Our Vision.”

A 2024 slate of officers — Jonathan Williams, President; Tom Nash, Vice President; Lili Green, Secretary; and Bob Kulpa, Treasurer — was unanimously elected. Shown in the photo are (from left) Jonathan, Lili, and Tom. Bob Kulpa was out of the country. See brief bios of Jonathan and Lili (both new to the Board) in another post. Also see the post offering tribute to the late Stephanie Brasher. Jessica Brasher, Stephanie’s daughter, and her husband, Travis Eszlinger, brought memorial seed packets to the meeting, and Jessica spoke briefly, describing how much the Video Club meant to her mom.

The meeting was recorded by Equipment Manager Jim Rohrs and edited and posted on our YouTube channel by YouTube Administrator and Video One Facilitator Ward Cushman.

The meeting opened with a review of recent club activities. Lucy Parker discussed the club’s Short Dramatic Films series. Suzanne Savlov described the television shows produced by the club’s Video One Productions team and aired monthly on Village TV. Tom Nash and Jack Crawbuck brought attendees up to date on the trove of video equipment left to the club in the estate of the late Fred Harshbarger. Marsha Berman listed services provided to residents in the Video Lab. Tom also talked about the range of video-related classes the club has offered in recent years.

Unfortunately, no classes are being offered this fall. Attendees were invited to review a list of volunteer opportunities (below) — including teaching classes.

Election of 2024 officers and discussion of new directions completed the meeting, with both new and longtime members offering ideas. Since many jobs remain to be filled, readers are invited to download and complete the above “call for volunteers.” Leave your completed form in the Video Lab (open Tuesday-Friday, 1-4 pm) or mail it to Steve Carman, 5295 Avenida Del Sol, Laguna Woods, CA 92637.
