Welcome to the Video Club: Making and Preserving Memories Since 1989

Current information about the Video Club is presented below. Click here to visit our General Information page with additional material.

We offer programs, classes, contests, and coaching services, along with a wide range of video production opportunities and fun social events. We’re based in Laguna Woods Village, one of Southern California’s largest senior retirement communities — and our membership is open to both residents and non-residents. Our facilities include a Video Lab and a Video Studio.

What do you want to do with video? Capture memories of your grandson’s birthday? Edit a video of your own Life Story? Or maybe produce a television show or a Short Dramatic Film?

We’ll help you do it all! Beginners are welcome, and there are no dumb questions.

LOCATION
We’re located in the City of Laguna Woods in South Orange County, California near the El Toro exit of the 5 Freeway. You’ll find us off Moulton Parkway, which crosses El Toro Road. We’re inside Gate 12 between Clubhouse 2 and the Pool. We have two facilities, a Lab and a Studio.

VIDEO LAB
In the Video Lab, we provide computer work stations and media-capture equipment, as well as offering programs, classes, and meetings. Both Windows and Macintosh computers are available with video-related software for members and residents to use.

Within the Video Lab — in the Marvin Green Memorial Capture Center — Lab Supervisors help residents and members convert vintage media (slides, printed photos, VHS and cassette tapes, 8mm and Super 8 films, and more) to modern digital formats. We also lend consumer camcorders and related equipment for video projects (no charge, but deposit required).

TOM NASH STUDIO
In the Tom Nash Studio — the equivalent of a small television station — we use camcorders, audio equipment, lights, green screen and conventional sets, and a control room/classroom to produce video projects. These include studio and location shooting of several monthly TV shows (aired in our community) and our original Short Dramatic Film series. All members are invited to join us — to learn and create videos!

The Video Lab is open Tuesday-Friday, 1-4 pm.

The Tom Nash Studio is open by appointment. For an appointment to use the Nash Studio, contact David Wells, 714-329-2575, davidwsoftw@hotmail.com or email email videocluboflagunawoods@gmail.com.,

TUESDAY YOUR DAY! For help with any video project, join President Jonathan Williams to LEARN – DO – SHARE – ENJOY on Tuesday Your Day, every Tuesday in the Video Lab from 10 am to noon. Says Jonathan, “Join us in the Video Lab on Tuesday mornings. That’s where our Video mavens will help you with all your video projects. We want to encourage people to come to the Lab on Tuesdays for help or suggestions.”
