A romantic comedy, “Twilight Time” follows the budding (and bumpy) hate-to-love romance between a psychologist and a rest home client, played by Paul Lambert and Barbara Attell (below). It was written by internationally-known film/TV actor Brett Halsey (right), a longtime Village resident, and won the Video Club’s 2024 Short Dramatic Script Contest. A Golden Globe winner and member of the Spaghetti Western Hall of Fame, the Santa Ana-born Halsey began his career as a teenage page at CBS TV Studios, was accepted into Universal-International’s actor-training studio, and was later signed by Universal. During the ’50s and ’60s, he appeared in numerous motion pictures. In the 60’s, Halsey began a 10-year stay in Italy, appearing in many Italian films. For more info, see contest winner.

“FUND THE FILMS

To offset the costs of this and future Short Dramatic Films, the Video Club has launched phase two of their “Fund the Films” campaign, which successfully raised $1000 in 2024 to cover costs of the Video Club’s 5th Short Dramatic Film, “Seeking Online Adventures.” “Fund the Films” is conducted through the Village Community Fund, (VCF) making all donations fully tax-deductible.

THE FILM SCENE PROJECT

Funds raised in the new campaign will offset costs of producing “Twilight Time” and will help fund an exciting new program. In late 2025 and early 2026, the Video Club production team will recruit and train cast and crew members for future Short Dramatic Films through the Film Scene Project, in which the same short scene will be produced as a comedy, a romantic drama, a horror tale, and more.
