The Video Club’s 6th Short Dramatic Film, “Twilight Time,” drew enthusiastic responses from the 100+ guests attending its Premiere showing on Thursday, September 25, 2025 in Clubhouse 6. Guests had their photos taken on a red carpet and enjoyed wine and cheese refreshments.

Written by longtime Village resident Brett Halsey, an internationally-known film/TV actor, “Twilight Time” won the Video Club’s Annual Short Dramatic Script Contest in 2024. It follows the budding (and bumpy) love-to-hate romance between a psychologist and a rest home client. The film was directed by Carol Glenn, produced by Gila Zalon, and edited by Bill Cartwright with Jack Crawbuck as Director of Photography. Click here for a full list of cast and crew.

Premiere guests Peggy Edwards (left) and Dee Dewey had their portrait taken — delivered by the Video Club in a special “Twilight Time” Premiere frame.

Proceeding the film was a 7-minute video, “Make Your Own Movie,” produced by Gila Zalon and Jonathan Williams, describing the steps involved in making “Twilight Time” and explaining how videomakers can use the same steps in creating their own short videos to entertain family and friends.

COMING UP: THE “FILM SCENES PROJECT” AND “FUND THE FILMS” CAMPAIGN
Before the film was shown, Gila Zalon, author and lead actor of the Video Club’s 1st Short Dramatic Film, “Write It Down” (2019), told the crowd about plans for the club’s next movie venture — the “Film Scenes Project” (FSP). This creative learning and recruitment activity will produce several short movies during 2025-2026, each in a different GENRE (comedy, horror, etc.), each with a different cast and crew — all using the same script. Click here for more information on FSP.

Lucy Parker, author of the club’s 2nd Short Dramatic Film, “What? You, Too?” (2021), and director of the 3rd film, “The Hole in One” (2022), described the Video Club’s fund-raising plans to provide support for the production of future Short Dramatic Films.

In cooperation with the Village Community Fund, the “Fund the Films” campaign will help Video Club members carry on this challenging senior filmmaking tradition through tax-deductible donations. Click here for more information on “Fund the Films.”
