The Video Club Lab, located inside Gate 12 between Clubhouse 2 and the pool, is temporarily closed following a vehicle accident that damaged the outside corner of the building on Tuesday morning, December 2, 2025. The impact caused significant damage to both the exterior and interior walls, but no injuries were reported.
According to Video Club President Jonathan Williams, the timing of the incident prevented what could have been a far more serious situation. “Thankfully, this accident happened on Tuesday morning when the Lab is closed and not during Monday afternoon’s Short Film Showcase when the building was packed,” said Williams.
Repairs began quickly thanks to Ted Ball of Village Maintenance, and Williams expressed optimism about the Lab’s eventual reopening. “The Lab provides valuable media transfer and conversion services to Village residents, and we are encouraged to see repairs already underway. The Video Lab is where we hold training programs, provide media services, and assist residents with their video projects.”
Laguna Woods maintenance is overseeing the repair process but has not provided an estimate for when the repairs will be completed or the building safe for occupancy. In the meantime, Williams and his team are exploring ways to continue offering essential Lab services during the temporary closure.
“There is good news,” said a smiling Williams. “The Video Studio remains open because it is located in an adjacent building.”
