Video Club on Village Television in June

The Video Club will again be well-represented on Village Television in June, 2019.

A playlist of nine “Discovering Laguna Woods” segments is available on the Village Television YouTube channel.

In June, “Discovering Laguna Woods” host Cyndee Whitney meets with leaders of the Village Centenarian Project prior to the project’s Launch Reception to be held on Friday, June 28, from 2-3:30 pm in the Community Center Board Room, open to the public.

Discussing the Centenarian Project and what they learned from it are Judy Saxon, co-host of the “Write Now” show, who, with Cyndee, interviewed 16 Village residents over age 100 for the project, and Mark Rabinowitch (right), past-president of the Camera Club, who took portraits of each centenarian matched with photos of them taken when they were young. Others interviewed on the show are Lucy Parker, Video Club Publicity Director and past-president, who suggested and co-heads the project with Mark, and Betsy Martin of the Video Club, who serves as liaison with the centenarians.

Following the June 28 Launch Reception, the Centenarian portraits will again be shown in the Village at the Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4, and at Grandparents Fun Day on Saturday, August 3. Other displays may be arranged. In addition, three half-hour television programs featuring the centenarian interviews will be aired over Village Television in July. Later the portraits and broadcasts will be available online.

 

WELCOME TO MY HOME – Mondays at 9:30 pm, Thursdays at 10 am – Produced by Video One Productions. Producer: Susanne Savlov.

In June, “Welcome to My Home” visits the Village residence of Jill Amadio (left) from England where we learn about her life as a reporter and book author, both here and in the U.K. and enjoy some delicious Cornish pasties served by Jill, a favorite British food.

 

LAGUNA WOODS STORIES – Wednesdays and Sundays at 12 noon – Produced by Video One Productions. Host: Video Club Vice President Tom Nash.

In June, Tom Nash interviews Laguna Woods Mayor and Village resident Cynthia Conners (right) on his “Laguna Woods Stories” show. Mayor Conners discusses her earlier life as an Army attorney as well as current issues in the city.

 

THE THRIVE SHOW – Thursdays at 9:30 am, Sundays at 10:30 am – Produced by Video Club Member and Instructor Scott Marvel.

The June, the “Thrive Show,” hosted and produced by Vilage resident and professional videographer Scott Marvel (above), talks about the Chicago Club’s Joshua Tree Bus Trip and interviews Carmen Pacella at Clubhouse 4’s woodshop.
