Videographer Fred Harshbarger will be our speaker at the Video Club’s next General Meeting, Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 7 pm, via Zoom. His topic: “What to Bring on Your African Video Safari.” Go on a virtual safari with an experienced videographer! Fred will share videos, travel tips, and video techniques from his multiple African safaris.

Fred, who lives in Costa Mesa, is a past Video Club Goldies Award winner and serves as Facilitator for our Video One Productions group. He worked in the defense industry, then made educational films – while also capturing his extensive travels and musical interests in many videos.

Fred began taking 16mm motion picture film in 1954. He made 16mm films, off and on, mostly as an “amateur,” until video arrived – when he began documenting his travels in that new medium. For about 10 years, he helped produce educational videos for use in high schools and junior high schools. Before each major vacation trip, he reviewed the special needs that trip might require – and over the years has accumulated a range of specialized gear – some of which he will demonstrate in his Zoom talk.

Fred will share portions of his 27-minute video, “East African Photo Safari,” a solo trip to Tanzania for animals and birds, as well as videos of wild African hunting dogs, cheetahs, and Cape buffalo. He’ll also cover essential video equipment.

To attend, send name, email, and phone number, mentioning “General Meeting,” to videocluboflagunawoods@gmail.com.
