Paul Ortiz to Discuss “The Future of Broadband in Laguna Woods Village” at January 19 General Meeting

Paul Ortiz, General Manager of Broadband Services, will discuss “The Future of Broadband in Laguna Woods Village” at the Video Club’s next General Meeting on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in the Video Lab. All Village residents and their guests are invited to attend without charge. Socializing, cookies, and wine at 6:30 pm, program at 7 pm.

Ortiz will cover “the most important trends driving broadband networks in the coming years…. In particular,” he points out, “the global response to COVID-19, building momentum in network investments, and continued innovation in broadband technology are all contributing to the next phase of evolution in broadband.”

As General Manager of Broadband Services, Ortiz is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Village’s broadband network, Village Television (Channel 6), Media Services 55 (commercial advertising sales on the cable network), and business development functions with West Coast Internet and other outside vendors.

Ortiz has worked in the television production industry for over 30 years. From the creation of short-form, long-form, and studio productions to the management and technical maintenance of production facilities, he brings an exceptionally broad set of skills to the production process. Ortiz received a bachelor’s degree in Television and Film from California State University, Fullerton. His talents include producer, on-air talent, director, camera operator, editor, computer graphics, and technical manager for hundreds of media projects.
