The Video Club will again be well-represented on Village Television in April, 2019.

In photo above, Betsy Martin (left) is shown on set in the Video Studio as Lucy Parker puts mic on centenarian Cleo Lisle, assisted by Tom Nash, while Cyndee Whitney (right) prepares to interview Cleo on February 15. Photo by Mark Rabinowitch.

In his April show, Tom gets the full story on the Village Centenarian Project, creating photographs and interviews of 15 residents over 100 years of age. Tom chats with photographer Mark Rabinowitch, past-president of the Camera Club, along with Video Club members Lucy Parker and Betsy Martin. The Camera Club and Video Club are partnering with the Thrive Task Force in the project, assisted by the Recreation Department. Plans for displaying the photos and broadcasting the interviews later this spring are discussed during the show.

Mark is matching his portraits of the participants with photos of them as young adults. Lucy, who suggested the idea of the Centenarian Project to the Thrive Task Force, is producing the interviews. Betsy is providing liaison with the centenarian participants. Several years ago, she was a leader in the Video club’s “Remarkable Lives” project, interviewing selected residents over age 90.

Incidentally, Tom is still working on re-recording his February interview with Laguna Woods’ busy Mayor, Cynthia Connors. The original could not be used due to no audio having been recorded. This widely-discussed disaster led Video Club Equipment Manager Jim Rohrs to institute a fail-safe technique in late March. We’re now making two sound recordings of each Video Studio shoot – one in the switcher and one in a camcorder.
