Come to our General Meeting, Thursday, September 19, in the Video Lab and learn about today’s light, versatile video equipment. Club member Don Hill will show and tell in his presentation, “What’s in My Camera Bag? New Toys for Old Folks.” Open without charge to all residents and their guests. Socializing and snacks at 6:30 pm, program at 7 pm.
Don is shown above in his role as “greeter” at a recent General Meeting.
Don has been a resident of Laguna Woods for over 20 years and is an active member in the tech clubs. A long-time instructor and Board Member of the Camera Club, he has gone from developing film in darkrooms to embracing the digital age. Learning by making mistakes and trying again, Don has tested and collected cameras, microphones, and different accessories for his videography. He will share his test results and experience through video and live demonstrations.
A native Californian, Don was the subject of an informative Member Spotlight in the March, 2015, Camera Club newsletter, Camaraderie. Don’s interest in photography began during his Navy service in the Korean War, but grew extensively after he retired from a career in aircraft engineering, moved here, and joined the Camera Club.
“It was golf that brought me to Leisure World,” Don admits – but membership in the Camera Club soon had him taking Kara Patterson ‘s ProShow Producer classes and mastering the Macintosh computer and iPhoto. The Camera Club’s first digital slide show was presented by Don. Since then he’s added video to his bag of tricks, taking special interest in the editing effects possible with Apple Clips on iPads and iPhones.
Join us to hear Don Hill at our first General Meeting of the fall – and find out what’s possible with with a small, light-weight camera bag!
