Don’t Miss These September Video Club Shows on Village TV

While resident-originated programming on Village Television has increased substantially over the past few years, the Video Club maintains a special interest in the three shows produced by the club’s Video One Productions: “Laguna Woods Stories,” “Beyond the Gates,” and “Welcome to My Home”(now in re-runs), as well as four shows produced by or featuring club members: “Video Club Spotlight” and “Jazzing Around,” produced by Fred Harshbarger, and two series’ produced by Village Television: “Discovering Laguna Woods,” featuring Cyndee Whitney, and “The Write Now Show” (now in re-runs), featuring Charlie Redner and the late Judy Saxon.

Laguna Woods Stories

Produced, hosted, and edited by club Vice President Tom Nash, “Laguna Woods Stories” introduces viewers to interesting Village residents and is our oldest club-produced TV series, having first aired on Village Television on May 4, 2017. In September, Tom’s guest will be Shiela LeCarner (pictured above), a resident now in her 90’s, who came to the United States after World War II with her G.I. husband as an Irish war bride. Wednesdays and Sundays at 12 noon.

Beyond the Gates

In September, the “Beyond the Gates” team will take viewers to Laguna Niguel, visiting the Laguna Niguel Botanical Preserve, where co-host Bill Hemberger tours the grounds with Botanical Preserve President Monty Divitt; an Italian restaurant; and the Laguna Niguel Regional Park. John Glassco was the segment producer. Suzanne Savlov produces the show. Others on the production team include Jack Crawbuck and Tom Nash and co-host Susan Wheeler. Wednesdays at 11 am.

Swamp Donkeys, “Lazy Bones” by Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, “Let It Shine” by the Midiri Brothers, and “Big Mamou” by Gator Nation Band. Sundays at 6:30 pm.

Discovering Laguna Woods

Show host Cyncee Whitney reports, “We did an on-location show this month at the outside pickleball courts at Gate 12. The show features interviews with avid pickleball players, two committee members of the very important “Lite the Nite” campaign, and the small group of players that I’ve played with every day (seven days a week) since May! It’s addictive!!” Wednesdays and Sundays at 9:30 am.

The Write Now Show

Hosts Charlie Redner and the late Judy Saxon interview New York Times best-selling author Jamie Ford, whose novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, was on the list for two-and-a-half years (re-run). Sundays at 12:30 am, Mondays at 11 am, Fridays at 10:30 am.
