Club General Meetings Suspended with an April Exception, 2022 Club Officers Elected

Along with employers nationwide, Village Managements Services finds itself shorthanded due to the COVID epidemic. As a result, VMS has curtailed evening and weekend use of all clubhouses and ancillary facilities with the exception of Clubhouses 1 and 5 and the Village Greens. This move impacts the Video Club.

At a special meeting called October 8 by President Steve Carman (above), the Video Club Board suspended monthly General Meetings starting in November. (Video Club General Meetings are normally held on third Thursday evenings, September-May – although skipped in December and supplanted in February by our Annual Goldie Awards Banquet.) The Board’s decision, in turn, impacted our annual election of officers as well as a highly-anticipated presentation by two Los Angeles videographers – both set for November.

2022 Officers Elected

At the October 21 General Meeting (see website article about VMS IT Director Chuck Holland’s presentation that evening, including a video of his talk), Steve presented a slate of officers for 2022. All but one are returning after seven years of service: President: Steve Carman; Vice President: Tom Nash; Treasurer: Bob Kulpa; and Secretary: Joan Carman. Longtime Secretary Stephanie Brasher is stepping down – with grateful thanks from all for her good work! Members present unanimously elected the slate.

Leave Your Legacy” Moved to April

As for the Los Angeles videographers originally scheduled for November 18, a special April event has been planned to welcome Leah Glauberman-Silberman, founder of Living Memories Videos, and her associate, Chelsea Zhang. Their topic will be “Leave Your Legacy.” The two videographers, both of whom studied filmmaking at the University of Southern California, will explain techniques for creating living memory videos and will screen examples of their work. Steve has submitted a lottery request for the Village Greens large meeting room on a Wednesday or Thursday evening in mid-April, 2022 (date TBA).

Steve has also submitted lottery requests for evening facilities to hold our Goldie Awards Banquet in February and our Annual Summer BBQ in August. Dates for the three evening events will be announced after November14, when the Recreation Department is expected to announce lottery winners, with over 250 clubs competing for the limited space available.
