In July, “Discovering Laguna Woods” host Cyndee Whitney interviews “The Indomitable Selma Bukstein” (at left with some of her dolls). Join Cyndee as she explores the many facets of this inspiring resident. Now in her 90s, Selma is the subject of an award-winning documentary, “The Last Doll Lady,” by Irvine videographer Taryn Hough. The video describes the humanitarian work Selma and other women carried out for many years, sharing with school children the stories of American heroes, represented by dolls.
BTW, Taryn Hough spoke at the Video Club’s General Meeting on September 20, 2018, where she showed the dolls video. See our website post.

In July, “Welcome to My Home” visits the residence of Mitra Kholousi, who came to the United States in 2000 as a religious refugee from Iran, where she was persecuted for her Baha’i faith. Baha’i symbol at left.
Mitra and Suzanne’s husband, psychologist Steven Savlov, Ph.D., discuss the dual heritage Mitra received from her Indian mother and Iranian father, as well as her life here in America. Later Mitra shares Persian food with Steve and the crew.
BTW, Suzanne is seeking more participants for “Welcome to My Home.” See this recent post.

As an intellectual property specialist, Jules worked at the giant theatrical and literary agency now known as ICM, serving clients in music, films, TV, and theater. In his private entertainment practice, he has represented numerous independent film projects and Broadway and off-Broadway productions.
BTW, Tom’s guest last month, Laguna Woods Mayor and Village resident Cynthia Conners, must have been pleased with her interview. Nice work, Tom!
